Michael J. Sacopulos, JD

Mike Sacopulos

Mike is the CEO of Medical Risk Institute (MRI), a firm that provides proactive counsel to the healthcare community in order to identify where liability risks originate, and reduce or remove these risks. Mike’s unlawyerlike pragmatism and clever wit make him a sought after speaker by national specialty societies MGMA national and state chapters, and trade associations.

Mike is General Counsel for Medical Justice Services where he is tasked with keeping the organization’s members out of meritless lawsuits. In a fit of madness, Mike agreed to work with a Lloyd’s of London firm, to write the first cyber insurance product designed exclusively for healthcare industry. He has written for Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Bloomberg and many publications for the medical profession. In 2016 he was selected as the 2016 “Lawyer of the Year” in the practice area of Medical Malpractice Law for Indiana by “Best Lawyers.” Michael also won the 2012 Edward B. Stevens Article of the Year Award for MGMA.

Mike attended Harvard College, London School of Economics, and Indiana University/Purdue University School of Law. Cheryl Toth, MBA

Cheryl (a.k.a, Tothie) blends exceptional communication skills with an ability to educate and inspire. She brings 25 years of healthcare consulting, technology leadership, and content development experience to her role at SoundPractice.

Known for her optimism and upbeat style, Cheryl has delivered workshops, keynotes, and digital learning to thousands of physicians and practice leaders. She's the author or ghostwriter of more than 600 healthcare articles, white papers, blogs, and book chapters.

Cheryl was a consultant with KarenZupko & Associates, Inc., VP Product & Operations at HealthLoop and VP of Digital and Social Media for Medical Alliances. She taught Business Communication as an adjunct faculty for Scottsdale Community College. She has a BS, Music from Western Michigan University, and an MBA, Finance from Loyola University Chicago.
